Motorcycles, our passion
Speedbox: a home for motorcycle enthusiasts
With Speedbox we have created a place for our customers where they can leave their motorized treasure in safekeeping. A place where at the speed bar, in the middle of our small racing museum, gasoline discussions take place over a fine espresso.
Speedbox is a home for racing enthusiasts. A space for friends of motorcycling, to meet to dream and enjoy. In short: Speedbox is more than our business - it is our calling! We are very happy to share this passion with you, whether in our workshop, in the racing museum, at the speed bar or at one of our events on the racetrack.
My first car was a motorcycle.
David
Owner
David Spitznagel, Managing Director of Speedbox since 2025, has been involved with motorcycles and combustion engine technology for most of his life.
Since founding Speedbox, he has incorporated his passion and affinity for fast bike technology into the company's daily business.
His sparkling enthusiasm for racing and motorcycles in general has been a constant throughout his life. At the age of 15, he began his apprenticeship at KTM & Triumph. After completing his apprenticeship, he set off into the wide world on his KTM 450 Rally. On a six-month trip through South America, he covered 27,000 km in six months on the old Dakar Rally trails with his 450, and also met his wife.
Back in Switzerland, his path soon crossed with that of Mauri Bäumle, the founder of Speedbox GmbH. After a brief break from motorbikes, during which David worked on even bigger engines in aeroplanes, he joined Speedbox as a mechanic and has been helping to shape the company ever since.
Over the years, Speedbox grew, and with it the responsibilities of David and Mauri. In 2024, the two decided that David would take over Speedbox with all its employees from 2025 onwards and make Mauri's lifelong dream his own.
Doesn't work, doesn't exist
Nicola
Suspension & engine department
Nicola strengthens our team with his many years of experience as a motorcycle mechanic.
Already in previous years he worked with David as an apprentice.
In addition to fast motorcycles, his passion is even faster bikes!!
"Everything except racing is a compromise”
Ben
Motorcycle mechanic apprentice
After his trial apprenticeship in our company, Ben was so enthusiastic about motorcycling that nothing else but motorcycles and racing was an option for him.
We really like this enthusiasm and that's why Ben has been supporting us in our business since September 2024.
Motorcycling is a passion
Roger Heinzer
Partner and Ambassador
Roger, widely known as the owner and managing director of Swiss race track organiser Caremotion, is expanding his passion for motorcycles and race tracks even further and will be joining Speedbox GmbH in 2025. He will be supporting David in his new role behind the scenes and contributing synergies.
If you turn right, the landscape becomes faster.
Mauri
Founder of Speedbox
Maurizio ‘Mauri’ Bäumle was racing around on a mini bike before he could even ride a bicycle. He later trained as a toolmaker, which further fuelled his affinity for technology and engines.
During his youth, he successfully competed in Superbike and Supersport races. He then devoted himself to his professional career in the telecommunications industry, which lasted 15 years. Eight of those years were spent managing global account teams supporting large international corporations. Even during this time, he remained connected to motorcycling and specialised in the restoration of GP machines, as well as the tuning and optimisation of racing motorcycles, as a sideline. Many of these can now be viewed at Speedbox.
In 2016 and 2017, he served as CEO of Swiss engineering and motorcycle manufacturer Suter Industries AG, where his responsibilities included returning the company to the Moto2 World Championship and establishing Suter's US partner Arch Motorcycle. With Speedbox, he realised his lifelong dream in 2018, which he will place in David's hands in 2025.
